Lewis Hamilton celebrates claiming a fourth Formula One world title in Mexico

Lewis Hamilton deserves a knighthood after claiming his fourth Formula One world championship title, according to Nigel Mansell.
The Mercedes driver wrapped up a historic title win at the Mexican Grand Prix on Sunday, as he recovered from a stunning collision with championship rival Sebastien Vettel on the opening lap to finish in ninth place.
It meant he got the points needed to make him uncatchable at the top of the drivers’ standings, and saw him eclipse Sir Jackie Stewart as the most successful British driver of all time.
Hamilton is now only three away from Michael Schumacher’s record of seven world titles, while the Brit has 61 Grand Prix wins to Schumacher’s record of 91.
And former F1 world champion Mansell says the 32-year-old should be ‘revered’ for his amazing achievement.
Asked if he believes Hamilton should be knighted after becoming Britain’s best ever driver, Mansell told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast: “I think he deserves everything he gets.
“Lewis, for me, is a breath of fresh air. He crosses so many boundaries, he’s a nice lad and he’s misunderstood at times.
“I think now he should be revered in every way he can be.
“Lewis is one of the greats. I forecasted it a few years ago, that I think Lewis can beat all the records, he’s that good. He can be the best of the best of the best.
“I think he can go on to win eight world titles.”
