Jurgen Braehmer has withdrawn from his World Boxing Super Series super-middleweight semi-final against Callum Smith.
The German fighter has been struck down with a virus and will not be fit enough to face Britain’s Smith in Nuremberg on Saturday night.
Smith will now face a different opponent, which is widely expected to be Dutchman Nieky Holzken.
The news was revealed by the Daily Telegraph’s boxing correspondent Gareth A Davies on the Sports Breakfast.
The winner of Saturday night’s fight – which is live on talkSPORT – will face WBA champion George Groves in the final.
Groves retained his title with a unanimous points win over Chris Eubank Jr in Manchester at the weekend, despite dislocating his shoulder late in the fight.
